I study workplace writing. From this general interest has sprung many research questions, including:

  • How do writers use gesture to collaboratively brainstorm a project?
  • How is writing distributed across tools, artifacts, and bodies for collaborative writers working face-to-face?
  • How do student writers use ePortfolios they create for school when they are searching for employment?

I explore these questions primarily through human subjects research. My methods frequently include observations of writers at work and retrospective interviews with writers about their writing practices.
